     Charles E. Semler married Joan Marie Miller. He died on 13 November 2023 at Sharpsburg, Md.; Charles “Bud” Edward Semler, 86, of Sharpsburg, MD, passed away on Monday, November 13, 2023. He was born on September 3, 1937 to the late Harry Hyde Semler Jr. and Catherine Hessong Semler. Bud was a 1955 graduate of Hagerstown High School, and still enjoyed his monthly luncheon with his classmates. After graduation he worked at Grant’s Department Store and later went on to serve in the United States Airforce as a jet mechanic, working on B-47 aircrafts. Following his service, he worked at Danzer Metal works and then as a maintenance mechanic at Eastalco until his retirement. He was a member of the United Steelworkers Union. Charles was also a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of Saint Mark’s Episcopal Church in Boonsboro. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Joan Semler, his brother, Gary Semler, and his beloved dog, Maggie and cat, Muzz. Charles is survived by his daughters, Catherine Ginny Blackwell (David) and Tammy Y. Stottlemyer (Bryan), his grandchildren, Josh Middlekauff (Jaime), Emily Middlekauff, Colton Blackwell (Taylor), Jacob Stottlemyer (Este), Benjamin Stottlemyer, and Trisha Stottlemyer (Maliek), his great-granddaughter, Hailee Middlekauff, his sisters, Ida Mae Valentine and Nina Belle Kearns, and several nieces and nephews. Family and friends are welcomed for a visitation on Friday, November 17, 2023 from 6:00pm – 8:00pm at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 East Wilson Boulevard in Hagerstown. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2023 at 1:00pm at the funeral home. Interment will be held at Mountain View Cemetery in Sharpsburg.
