Yvonne Elaine Bishop married Tom Anthony on 14 April 1956; Tom and Yvonne Bishop Anthony celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on April 14, 2006. She died on 24 March 2022 at Hagerstown, Maryland; Yvonne Elaine Anthony, 84, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, March 24, 2022, surrounded by those she loved. Born Thursday, November 18, 1937, in Hagerstown, MD, she was the daughter of the late Dwight Bishop and the late Nellie (Harshman) Bishop. Survived by her daughter, Karen Stamper; son, Craig Anthony and wife Joyce; grandchildren, Justin Anthony, Milton Stamper Jr. (Aimee), Heidi Britton (Jonathan), Heather Grove (Jeremy), Jordan Anthony (Nicole), Hamilton Stamper, Kara Crampton (Cory); and thirteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Thomas Anthony, Jr. to whom she was married for 65 years; son, Curt Anthony; sister, Kathryn James, and “sister” JoEllen Lennox. Yvonne grew up in Chewsville, MD and graduated from Hagerstown High School in 1955. On April 14, 1956, Yvonne married her childhood friend and love of her life – Thomas Anthony. Yvonne was a full-time homemaker and devoted mother to Craig, Curt, and Karen. She dedicated her life to loving and caring for her family. As her children grew older, she worked alongside her husband for over 50 years as secretary for their financial business. Through the years Yvonne would become her children’s number one fan as they were involved in numerous sports and activities. As the grandchildren and great grandchildren grew, so did her constant encouragement from the bleachers. Yvonne led a very active life. She regularly donated to the Red Cross as a blood donor and served as a Hospice volunteer where she would share her faith. She played the piano and enjoyed singing in many church choirs. She also organized a team to walk and raise money for Cystic Fibrosis in honor of her grandchild Jordan. Her faithful witness was shared through her many volunteer activities such as serving as president and member of the Washington County Homemakers. Yvonne loved the Lord dearly with all her heart. She felt called to a life of service telling others about Him through teaching Sunday school, Vacation Bible school, Child Evangelism Good news club, and even as a cook at the Albryoca Summer Camp. But her greatest ministry was her family. A prayer warrior through and through, she would fill up hundreds of pages of prayer journals lifting up each family member that God entrusted to her. It was her desire that each one of them would find the hope and satisfaction she found in her personal relationship with Jesus. Services to celebrate Yvonne’s life will be held Wednesday, March 30, 2022, at 11:00 am at the Paramount Baptist Church, 13234 Marsh Pike Hagerstown, MD with Pastor Frank H. Duncan officiating. Family will receive friends at the Douglas Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown, MD, Tuesday, March 29 from 4-6 pm. Interment will be at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park.
