     G. Albert Fockler died on 20 June 2013; George Albert "Al" Fockler, 75, of 15715 National Pike, Hagerstown, Md., passed away Thursday, June 20, 2013, at Williamsport Retirement Village.

Born Saturday, Jan. 8, 1938, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late George Scott Fockler and Beulah Virginia (Hull) Fockler.

He graduated from Hagerstown High School in 1955.

He was employed with Leroy E. Myers Masonry for 27 years and later retired from the the Maryland Department of Corrections after 21 years. He went on to work at the Washington County Circuit Courthouse for five years.

He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Clear Spring, Md., and the Wilson Ruritan for many years, where he served as past president and in numerous other positions.

He played in the Hub City Slow Pitch Softball League for many years, and was an avid New York Yankees fan and enjoyed horse racing for years.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Betty Lou (Starliper) Fockler; sons, Rodney S. Fockler, William L. Fockler and wife, Stacy, George A. Fockler Jr. and Brian M. Fockler; granddaughters, Tara (Fockler) Turner and husband, Bradley, Hannah R. Fockler, Alexandra M. Fockler and Madison E. Fockler; and great-granddaughter, Karsyn A. Turner.

Services will be held Monday, June 24, 2013, at 10 a.m. at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown, with the Rev. Charles M. Mackley officiating.

Family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday, June 23, 2013, from 2 to 5 p.m.

Interment will be at St. Paul's Cemetery, Clear Spring.
