Ralph Franklin Royce Sr., 70, of Hagerstown, Md., died Saturday, Jan. 5, 2008, at Washington County Hospital, Hagerstown.
Born July 24, 1937, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Lee Hammel and Mary Irene (Myers) Royce Sr.
Ralph graduated from Hagerstown High School class of 1955. He retired from Crestlawn Memorial Cemetery, Marriottsville, Md., where he was a caretaker for 18 years. He was employed as a detailer with Hoffman Automotive Group for the past eight years.
Ralph was a member of Moose Lodge 1191, Waynesboro, Pa., Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie 1758, Waynesboro, and Goodwill Athletic Association, Hagerstown.
Ralph is survived by three sons, Ralph F. Royce Jr. of York, Pa., Joseph L. Royce of Funkstown, Md., and Michael W. Royce of Emmitsburg, Md; one daughter, Deena M. Royce of Hagerstown; their mother, Donna L. Royce of Funkstown; three brothers, Clyde Royce, Warren Royce and Galen Royce, and one sister, Doris Cass, all of Hagerstown; three grandchildren; and companion, Maggie M. Wilson and her family.
In addition to his parents, Ralph was preceded in death by one daughter, Mary T. Royce, and three brothers, Lee H. Royce Jr., Charles Royce and Terry Royce.
The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 10, 2008, at Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, Hagerstown. The Rev. James R. Stauffer will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown.
The visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2008, at Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, 305 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown
The family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 3120 Lord Baltimore Drive, Suite 106, Baltimore, MD 21244; or the American Cancer Society, 1037 Haven Road, Hagerstown, MD 21742.
