     Peggy Ann Rohrer was born on 3 November 1936. She died on 16 May 2018 at age 81; Peggy Ann (Rohrer) Bayer was born Nov. 3, 1936. She gained her heavenly home in the early morning hours on May 16, 2018, passing peacefully in her sleep at 81 years of age.

She was the seventh of 11 children of the late Bernard and Lottie (Bachtell) Rohrer.

Peggy grew up in Chewsville, Md., living in a home built by her father.

She attended Chewsville Elementary School, and graduated from Hagerstown High School in 1955.

Peggy went to work at Doubleday Books in Smithsburg, where she met Paul Bayer, whom she married on April 20, 1956. They lived in the Smithsburg area for 25 years, raising five children and later moving to Waynesboro, Pa., in 1982. They enjoyed 44 years of marriage until Paul's passing on Feb. 9, 2000.

Peggy was a homemaker. She enjoyed gardening and the simple pleasures of life, including berry picking, wild-mushroom hunting and spending time with family.

Peggy had a caring and generous spirit; and, she will be greatly be missed by all who knew her.

Peggy is survived by her five children, Susan Jamison (Allen) of Oakdale, Calif., Shirley Bayer of Hagerstown, Diane Mohler of Troy, Ohio, Janet Hess (Darrell) of Chambersburg, Pa., and Vernon Bayer (Melinda) of Waynesboro; a son-in-law, Randy Mohler; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Vivian (Barnes) Weagley.

Peggy was preceded in death by her husband, Paul; five sisters, Doris Chilton, Genevieve Rhodes, Thelma Cline, Evelyn Draper and Nancy Ridenour; four brothers, Joseph Rohrer, Lee Rohrer, Ernest Rohrer and Nevin Rohrer; and two great-grandchildren, Lena Clawson and Andrew Wagoner.

Funeral services will be held Friday, May 25, 2018, at 10 a.m. at the Old German Baptist Brethren Church (Antietam District) on Wayne Highway North in Waynesboro. Burial will follow in the adjacent church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 24, 2018, at Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro.
