     Shirley Ann Johnson died on 30 November 2015; Shirley Ann Meyers, 78, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away on Monday, Nov. 30, 2015, at Julia Manor Health Care Center, Hagerstown, MD.
She was born on March 8, 1937, in Falling Waters, WV, to the late Howard Lee and Carrie Amelia Cole Johnson.









She was a 1955 graduate of Hagerstown High School, and attended Frostburg State Teachers College. Frostburg, MD.
She was previously employed by Pangborn Corporation, Corderman’s Hardware and, most recently, First Data, all of Hagerstown, MD.
She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church, Chewsville, MD.
Shirley volunteered with the “Road to Recovery” in Hagerstown, MD.
She was an avid gardener, loved canning and cooking, and enjoyed traveling with her siblings. Over the years, she has rescued several dogs, and most recently enjoyed the company of her dogs, Kate and Annie.
Shirley is survived by her three daughters, Elizabeth A. Kress of Pinopolis, SC, Dr. Marleta M. Poffenberger and her husband, William E. Jefferson Jr., of Washington, NC, and Rebecca S. Conrad of Hagerstown, MD; two sons, Thomas A. Poffenberger and his wife, Sandy, of Mt. Airy, MD, and Ronald Q. Poffenberger of Smithsburg, MD; sister, Rose A. Bowser of Hagerstown, MD; brother, Gary A. Johnson of Smithsburg, MD; sister-in-law, Ida M. Johnson of Chewsville, MD; grandchildren, Kristen, Lance, Courtney, Will, Morgan, Amy, Bobby, Rachel, Clara and Alana; and great-grandchildren Chloe, Emma and Luke.
She was predeceased by her brothers, Isaac L. Johnson and Howard E. Johnson.
A gathering with friends and food will be held at Keystone Family Restaurant, 10530 Buchanan Trail E., Waynesboro, PA 17268, on Thursday, Dec. 3, 2015, from 6 to 8 p.m.
Shirley’s wishes were to be cremated, and her ashes scattered.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff at Julia Manor and to Dr. Bazzi.
