     Virginia R. Hudson married Robert Bowers. She died on 12 May 2014; Virginia R. Bowers

Virginia Ruth Hudson Bowers of Halfway, Md., passed into eternal life surrounded by her family on Monday, May 12, 2014, at her home of almost 50 years on Larch Avenue from
pancreatic cancer.
Virginia was the daughter of the late Kenneth V. and Mallie Edwards Hudson of Sparta, N.C.
She will be sorely missed by her husband of 56-plus years, Robert L. "Bob" Bowers; and her children, Lynn Robert Bowers and wife, Cathie, of Hagerstown, and daughter, Michelle
Zipse Bruner and husband, Clayion Bruner, of Overland Park, Kan. She is survived by grandson, Zachery Bowers and wife, Angie, and great-grandsons, Daniel, Austin and Noah
Bowers, all of Hagerstown; granddaughters, Chelsea and Erin Zipse; grandsons, David and Michael Zipse of Overland Park; and a number of people who consider her family, Dr.
Clifford Hudson and Nancy Hudson Thompson of Port Republic, Md., Jane Hudson Dashbach of
HaITisburg, Pa., and Lloyd Hudson of Shenandoah, Va. She is survived by brother,
Arthur Hudson of Sparta; stepbrother, Joseph Hudson of Hillsville, Va; stepsisters, Helen Estell and Alma Lee Hawkins of Sparta and Ellen Jane Lovette of Millers Creek, N.C; and
stepbrothers, Robert and James Hudson of Sparta. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by brother, Sherman William "Bill" Hudson; and sister, Edna Hudson Fender.
Virginia was a 1955 graduate of Hagerstown High School and the Franklin School of Science and Arts of Philadelphia, Pa. She was a technical medical secretary and served on staff
with Dr. Clifford Hudson of Fork, Md., for several years. She was corporate secretary of Flameless Heating Supply Inc.
Virginia was very active in her church on Earth, Zion Lutheran Church in Williamsport, Md., where she served on a number of committees, including Church Women United, and on
altar service. She was a very caring person who reached out to a number of older ladies in our community who had physical as well as fellowship needs. She taught a Cambodian boy
sponsored by the Zion church to speak English.
Virginia and Bob enjoyed many years of travel together, particularly their annual trip to North Myrtle Beach, S.C., and several cruises. They had much travel planned in the future.
A memorial service will be Saturday, May 17, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, Williamsport, after meeting friends at 10 a.m. The Rev. W. Gregory Martin will officiate.
