  1. Now for the story of Bob and me. After I graduated from HHS, I graduated from Frostburg State Teachers College –class of ‘59 that is now Frostburg State University. I loved it there and made many great lifelong friends. In my senior year, I met Bob (a graduate of Beall High Class of ‘55 in Frostburg) who enrolled at the college after four years of active duty in the Navy, taught one year at Oxon Hill Elem -PG County, married in August of 1960, then nine more years at Penn.
Avenue School (grade 4) in Cumberland while Bob finished college and began teaching at Fort Hill High in Cumberland where he did his student teaching, teaching for three years, becoming vice principal, and later principal at Fort Hill for sixteen years! Do you remember how FH used to be our terrible rivals in sports? He was hired at Personnel Supervisor for the County and later served as Deputy Superintendant until his retirement at age 56 with 35 years of service. He actually loved his work and was very dedicated to the school and community. We lived very near the school, our phone number was in the book and we did not even have an answering machine until he retired. No one ever bothered us at home if you can believe that!

After my happy ten years of teaching, we decided that I would stop with the adoption of our son Mike – our only child. By that time Bob was working the equivalent of two full-time jobs - the many and varied school activities and his demanding daytime job – someone had to mind the store! When Mike was ten, I began working as a part-time secretary for two psychiatrists for 17 years! After they retired, I worked part-time for the Imaging Center helping with mostly paperwork in that office. I always liked all my jobs except that I found I didn’t like substitute teaching – I preferred full-time and being my own boss – all you did there was keep order.

We love living in Myrtle Beach even though neither of us golf or go to the beach – go figure!
